Why is this a thing?

Your brain is divided up in to two hemispheres, left and right. The left hemisphere is focused on conscious thought, and logical reasoning. The right hemisphere is focused on creativity and abstract tasks. When using both parts of the brain equally, it causes the brain to get confused unless it is trained. The left part of the brain was reading the words, while the right part of the brain was focusing on color recognition.

This type of test is actually called the \”Stroop Test,\” and was discovered by John Ridley Stroop, in 1935.
