Going camping is a lot of fun, but sometimes the hardest part is figuring out what to make while on this adventure. So below we have a classic dish with a campfire based twist: Campfire Chili Cheese Fries. Adult Supervision is needed in order to complete this recipe.
Ingredients
-
One can of chili (your preference)
-
One package of frozen french fries (if you get the family size, double the other ingredients)
-
One cup of shredded cheddar cheese
-
One large spoonful of sour cream (optional)
Marterials
-
Aluminum foil
-
Non-stick cooking spray
-
Fire poker
-
Oven mitts
-
Forks
Step One
-
Take about two and a half feet of aluminum foil and fold it in half.
Step Two
-
Spray the aluminum foil with non-stick cooking spray
Step Three
-
Put the frozen french fries in the middle of the sheet
Step Four
-
Enclose the french fries with the extra aluminum foil
Step Five
-
With adult supervision, put the aluminum foiled french fries on the coals to cook them. This should take around 15-20 minutes, but can depend on the heat of the fire.
Step Six
-
With adult supervision, use the fire poker to push the aluminum foil to the edge, and use oven mitts to grab to aluminum foil
Step Seven
-
Open up the aluminum foil carefully and pour the chili over the fries
Step Eight
-
Pour the cheese on top of the chili
Step Nine
-
Close the aluminum foil up again and cook until the chili is hot and the cheese has melted, by putting the foil on the coals with adult supervision. This should take about 10-15 minutes, but can depend on the heat of the fire
Step Ten
-
Repeat step six
Step Eleven
-
Once everything has cooled down a little, you can add sour cream if desired and eat directly from the aluminum foil with a fork!
