Fun Lollipop Crafting With Shaving Cream

Tomorrow, July 20th, is Lollipop Day, and there is an age old question that goes along with lollipops, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? Though there has been multiple studies using robots and people, there is not an exact number. Instead, we have a fun activity to do, so that way while you are thinking about how many licks it truly takes, you can have your own gigantic lollipop to hang up above your bed or for a party.

Materials:

  • Shaving cream (men\’s non-scented and comes out as white foam is the best to use)
  • Food coloring
  • Paper towels
  • A pencil or stick
  • One large trash bag
  • Scissors (with adult supervision only)
  • Scrap pieces of paper as large as the lollipop seen below
  • Printed copies of the lollipop seen below:\"\"

Step One:

  • Lay the paper with the lollipop facing up on a flat surface.

Step Two:

  • Take shaving cream and cover the scrap piece of paper in shaving cream. You don\’t want mounds of shaving cream, but make sure to have more than a thin coating.

Step Three:

  • With adult supervision, put drops of food coloring on the shaving cream. You do not need to cover the shaving cream in food coloring.

Step Four:

  • With a pencil or stick, mix around the shaving cream and food coloring so that way it isn\’t concentrated

Step Five:

  • Grab the paper with the lollipop on it and face it down towards the shaving cream paper. Smush the lollipop paper into the shaving cream carefully with adult supervision.

Step Six:

  • Once the pages have been rubbed together, carefully peel the lollipop page off of the top and wipe the remaining shaving cream off into a trash bag using paper towels.

Step Seven:

  • With adult supervision, cut out the lollipop and repeat the process if you want more lollipops!
